'Throughout time, people have imagined a better now, a better tomorrow, a better life. They have been striving to affect, and improve the conditions of their lives through a variety of ways, such as trying to control nature, experimenting with various models of life arrangements, and designing innovative or alternative spaces within which they hope to live the desired and imagined life that such a space will allow them to experience.

 

There is little, if any doubt that the life of an individual or a family may, for example, be greatly affected by the design of the house they live in, and at a greater scale, the design of an entire neighborhood, or even a whole city has the power to transform and even significantly define the lives of those who reside there. Meaning and belonging derive also from the context of space, and place, just as space, and place acquire shape, and function through the notions of meaning and belonging of those who design them...'
